Cookies & Similar Technologies Policy

1. About This Policy

This Cookies & Similar Technologies Policy explains how QR Menu Solutions ("QR Menu Solutions", "we", "us", or "our") uses cookies, local storage, session storage, pixels, tags, scripts, SDK technologies, device-side identifiers, and similar technologies ("Cookies and Similar Technologies") across our online services.

This single policy applies, as relevant, to our public website, restaurant onboarding pages, customer-facing digital menus opened through QR codes or menu links, restaurant owner dashboards, restaurant management web applications, administration and internal web panels, support interfaces, account and billing pages, and future web-based services operated by QR Menu Solutions.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, Refund Policy, and Cancellation Policy.

2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

A cookie is a small text file or similar identifier that a website can store on a user's device and later read when the user returns. Cookies can be session-based or persistent and can be first-party or third-party.

Similar technologies can include local storage, session storage, pixels, tags, scripts, SDKs, software identifiers, and other technologies that store information on or access information from a user's device or browser.

Different laws use different terminology and rules. This policy therefore uses the broader term "Cookies and Similar Technologies" rather than treating every technology as a traditional browser cookie.

3. Where We May Use These Technologies

  • Public website: marketing, information, pricing, documentation, contact and onboarding pages.
  • Customer digital menu: web menus opened after scanning a QR code or using a menu URL.
  • Restaurant dashboard: interfaces used by restaurant owners and authorized staff to manage menus, availability, restaurant information, usage, subscriptions and settings.
  • Administration and internal panels: systems used by authorized personnel for menu digitization, support, operations, billing, security and administration.
  • Account and billing pages: authentication, checkout, subscription management, payment-related pages and support flows.
  • Future services: new websites, web applications, integrations or customer-facing features may use additional technologies. We will update this policy and, where required, obtain consent before introducing non-essential purposes.

4. Categories of Cookies and Similar Technologies

Strictly Necessary / Essential

These technologies support authentication, security, session management, load balancing, consent management, fraud prevention, and core functionality requested by the user. Depending on applicable law and exact implementation, they may not require consent.

  • Login and authentication sessions.
  • Security and abuse-prevention tokens.
  • Consent and privacy preference records.
  • Load balancing and routing.
  • Basic application/session state.
  • Payment and checkout security where necessary.

Functional / Preference

These technologies remember choices and settings such as language, interface preferences, dashboard preferences, or temporary menu selections. Where a preference is strictly necessary for a requested service it may be treated as essential; other preference technologies may require consent.

Analytics / Measurement

Analytics technologies may help us understand website and application performance, errors, usability and aggregate usage. We may use Google Analytics and analytics capabilities associated with our infrastructure. Exact providers and configurations may change.

Customer QR menus: our current product requirement is to count menu visits for restaurant usage and billing. We do not intentionally collect IP addresses, browser information, operating-system information or device information merely for menu-visit counting. If future analytics on public menus collect additional information, we will configure them according to applicable law and update consent mechanisms where required.

Marketing / Advertising

We may in the future use technologies for marketing attribution, campaign measurement, remarketing, advertising or conversion measurement. Where prior consent is required, these technologies will not be activated until consent is obtained.

Security / Fraud Prevention

Security technologies may detect abuse, protect accounts, prevent automated attacks and maintain secure sessions. Some may be strictly necessary where the applicable legal exemption permits their use without consent.

Embedded Content and Third-Party Technologies

Pages may contain payment, maps, video, support, authentication, analytics, social or other third-party integrations. Providers may place or access their own technologies. Non-essential third-party technologies will be controlled by consent where required.

5. Technology Classification

Category Typical Purpose Examples Consent Approach
Essential Authentication, security, sessions, routing, consent management and core functionality Session identifiers, authentication and security tokens Generally used without consent where legally exempt
Functional Remember requested choices and features Language, interface preferences, temporary selections Consent where required unless strictly necessary
Analytics Measure usage, performance, errors and aggregate trends Analytics cookies, tags and measurement identifiers Consent where required; narrow exemptions may apply in some jurisdictions
Marketing Campaign attribution, advertising and remarketing Advertising pixels and conversion tags Prior consent where required
Third-party Enable integrated services Payment, support, media, maps or social integrations Depends on purpose and applicable law

6. First-Party and Third-Party Technologies

First-party technologies are controlled by the website or application being visited. Third-party technologies are controlled by another provider. A third-party technology is not automatically non-essential, and a first-party technology is not automatically exempt from consent. The actual purpose and applicable law determine the treatment.

7. Consent for Non-Essential Technologies

Where applicable law requires consent before storing or accessing information on a user's device, QR Menu Solutions will request consent before activating the relevant non-essential technologies.

Where required, consent will be freely given, specific, informed and based on a clear affirmative action. Mere continued browsing will not be treated as consent where affirmative consent is legally required.

8. Rejecting Non-Essential Technologies

Where consent is required, you may refuse non-essential Cookies and Similar Technologies. Refusing them should not prevent access to a service unless the technology is genuinely necessary for that particular service or feature. Some optional features may not work correctly when their associated technologies are disabled.

9. Withdrawing or Changing Consent

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw or change your preferences through the QR Menu Solutions cookie/privacy settings interface, where available.

Withdrawal does not affect processing lawfully carried out before withdrawal. After withdrawal, we will stop using affected non-essential technologies as required by applicable law, subject to technical limitations involved in removing previously stored information.

10. Consent Preference Storage

We may use a necessary preference mechanism to remember whether and how you responded to our cookie settings. This mechanism is intended only to manage privacy preferences and should not be used for advertising or unrelated tracking.

11. Customer QR Menu Pages

Customer-facing menus are designed to be accessible without creating an account. The core menu should be usable without accepting optional advertising or analytics cookies where consent is required.

Our current product requirement is that menu visitors are counted for restaurant usage purposes. We do not intentionally collect IP addresses, browser information, operating-system information or device information merely for menu-visit counting.

Temporary browser storage, such as session storage or local storage, may be used for convenience features such as temporarily remembering selected food items. This is not intended to create a customer account or permanent customer profile.

If future features introduce ordering, reservations, loyalty programs, customer accounts, personalized recommendations, advertising or other functionality requiring additional tracking, those features will be subject to applicable privacy and consent requirements.

12. Restaurant Dashboard and Administration Systems

Authenticated dashboards and administration systems may require essential cookies or similar technologies to maintain secure login sessions, protect accounts, remember necessary application state and provide requested functionality.

Additional analytics, personalization, support, experimentation or marketing technologies may be used where appropriate. Where consent is legally required, they will be controlled through the applicable consent mechanism.

13. Payment and Subscription Services

Checkout, subscription management and payment-related functionality may involve payment providers or related providers using technologies for security, fraud prevention, payment processing and session management.

QR Menu Solutions may use Lemon Squeezy, Stripe, Razorpay, PayU or other payment providers introduced in the future. Exact technologies depend on provider, payment method, country and configuration.

14. Analytics Providers

QR Menu Solutions may use Google Analytics and other analytics or monitoring services to understand website and product performance. Where analytics requires consent, it will be activated only after the required consent.

Where a jurisdiction permits a narrowly defined consent exemption for analytics, we may rely on it only where the actual implementation satisfies the applicable conditions.

15. Future Technologies and New Features

QR Menu Solutions may introduce ordering, reservations, loyalty programs, customer accounts, personalized menus, recommendations, live chat, support tools, A/B testing, security systems, payment features, marketing integrations, advertising, location-based functionality or other services.

These features may introduce new Cookies and Similar Technologies or change how existing technologies are used. We will update this policy when material changes occur and obtain consent before activating non-essential technologies where applicable law requires prior consent.

This policy does not itself authorize us to activate a future technology for a purpose that requires consent. The appropriate consent will be requested before such technology is used.

16. Retention and Lifetimes

Cookies and similar technologies may be session-based or persistent. Duration depends on purpose and implementation. We aim to retain them only as long as reasonably necessary for their stated purpose and will follow applicable maximum retention requirements where they apply.

17. International Privacy Requirements

QR Menu Solutions serves users internationally. Cookie and tracking requirements differ between jurisdictions and depend on location, service, technology and whether personal data is processed.

Where applicable, we seek to operate consistently with requirements including the EU/EEA ePrivacy framework and GDPR, UK PECR and UK GDPR, applicable Indian privacy and information-technology requirements, Brazilian LGPD, California privacy requirements including CCPA/CPRA where applicable, and other local privacy and electronic-communications laws.

Some jurisdictions permit exemptions for strictly necessary technologies or, under narrow conditions, certain analytics technologies. We will not assume an exemption merely because a technology is described as analytics, security, functional or first-party.

18. Browser Controls

Most modern browsers allow users to delete, block or restrict cookies and similar storage. Blocking essential technologies may prevent login, security functions, saved preferences or other requested features from working correctly. Browser controls may not provide the same granular choices as our consent-management system.

19. Do Not Track and Similar Signals

Browsers and devices may provide signals such as "Do Not Track" or other privacy preferences. Handling may depend on applicable law and the technology involved. Where a law requires us to honor a recognized privacy signal, we will do so as required.

20. Cookies and Personal Information

Some Cookies and Similar Technologies may process information considered personal data under applicable law. Such processing is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Where consent is the applicable legal basis, we will seek consent; other processing may rely on another lawful basis where permitted.

21. Children's Privacy

Our services are not specifically directed at children. Customer menus may be accessible to anyone visiting a restaurant, but we do not intentionally use customer menu tracking to create profiles of children. Where applicable law imposes additional requirements concerning children, we will comply with those requirements.

22. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our technology, services, providers, legal requirements or tracking practices change. The updated version will be published with a revised Last Updated date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent for material changes.

23. Relationship With Our Privacy Policy

This policy explains Cookies and Similar Technologies specifically. Our Privacy Policy provides broader information about personal information, restaurant data, menu data, analytics, service providers, international processing, retention and user rights. If there is a conflict with mandatory applicable law, the mandatory law prevails to the extent required.
